"Tyazhpromexport" Company of Rostec State Corporation has restored the compressor equipment of the oxygen station of the pig iron plant in Myanmar. The station should increase the combustion temperature of coal, which will allow the smelting of high-quality pig iron from the poor iron ore of the local Pang Pet deposit.

At the next stages, with the participation of "Tyazhpromexport" specialists, the technological unit of the station will be prepared and the commissioning of the entire facility will be carried out. The station is scheduled to be launched in early 2026.

"The restoration of the oxygen station is on schedule and is an important part of the reopening of the pig iron plant in Myanmar. To date, the total technical readiness of the plant is about 68%. For the full commissioning of the enterprise, it is still necessary to set up a melting furnace operating using the Russian Romelt technology, which allows efficient use of ore with a low iron content," said Alexander Senin, Chief Engineer of "Tyazhpromexport".

The total cost of the project is about 30.55 million euros. According to experts from Tyazhpromexport, subject to timely financing from the customer, the plant can be put into operation within the next 1.5–2 years.

The project to rebuild the pig iron plant in Myanmar started in February 2025. The work is being carried out jointly by the Russian and Myanmar sides.
