Tyazhpromexport is modernizing the energy infrastructure of a metallurgical plant in Myanmar
The project provides for a complete reengineering and reconstruction of the plant's energy complex using Russian technical solutions. The implementation will take place in three stages: installation of equipment (turbines, auxiliary systems, boilers), staff training, commissioning and reaching the warranty capacity.
Two Russian steam turbines of 20 MW each will be used as part of the TPP. The total capacity will cover the needs of the plant, which will ensure its full autonomy in the face of electricity shortages in Myanmar. The technology of using secondary energy resources will allow the company to increase energy independence and reduce the operating costs of the production cycle.
After the commissioning of all the capacities of the TPP, it will allow to abandon the purchase of electricity from the external network, increase resistance to tariff fluctuations and reduce the cost of finished products.
In addition, the parties signed a memorandum on the modernization of the plant's oxygen station, which was commissioned by Tyazhpromexpert specialists in early 2026. The reconstruction will ensure uninterrupted supply of liquefied oxygen to the metallurgical plant in Nyang U. This will create conditions for more stable operation of key industrial facilities, synchronization of technological processes and optimization of logistical costs.

The successful implementation of the contracts will strengthen the position of Russian technologies in the Southeast Asian market and create the prerequisites for expanding the portfolio of joint projects in the metallurgical, energy and machine-building industries.The restoration of the iron smelter in Myanmar started in February 2025 and is being carried out in stages. The company has already commissioned an oxygen station that will provide oxygen production. At the moment, solutions for further modernization of production are being developed.
