Tyazhpromexport presented an oxygen station modernization project to Myanmar
Tyazhpromexport Company (part of Rostec State Corporation) held bilateral talks with the delegation of Myanmar on the implementation of existing contracts for the restoration of the iron smelter. The parties assessed the technical and economic indicators of the completed work stages and agreed on a further roadmap for cooperation. In addition, the company presented a comprehensive solution for the modernization of the plant's existing oxygen station.
The negotiations took place within the framework of the XVII International Economic Forum "Russia — the Islamic World: Kazan Forum" in Kazan. The working meeting was attended by Minister of Finance of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Kang Zaw, Minister of Industry of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Charlie Tan, Deputy Minister of National Planning, Investment and Foreign Economic Relations of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Aung Mo Chai and a delegation of Tyazhpromexport.
The proposed modernization project of the existing oxygen station of the iron smelter provides for the production of high-purity liquid oxygen. Up to 40% of the excess production is planned to be sent to healthcare facilities, as well as to metallurgical plants in Nyang U and Yangon. The dual use of the installed capacity eliminates the inappropriate discharge of the generated oxygen into the atmosphere, ensuring a stable supply to the economy and social sphere of the republic.
Representatives of Myanmar highly appreciated the work of Tyazhpromexport, noting the professionalism of the Russian company, reliability, compliance with deadlines and the effectiveness of the implementation of previously reached agreements. Following the talks, the delegation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar expressed its official gratitude to the company and confirmed its interest in expanding cooperation in priority sectors of the economy.
In addition, as part of the business program of the forum, the company held a series of strategic negotiations with representatives of the Middle East, Asia and Africa. They were aimed at expanding the portfolio of international industrial projects and promoting Russian engineering and technical solutions to foreign markets.
"Participation in the Kazan Forum allows us not only to present the export potential of Russian industrial solutions, but also to build a substantive dialogue with relevant ministries and departments of partner countries. Successful work experience in Myanmar has become a solid foundation for new joint initiatives, and the trust formed at the state level is no longer a prospect, but an effective tool for long—term agreements," said Sergey Egorov, Director General of Tyazhpromexport.
The restoration of the iron smelter in Myanmar started in February 2025 and is being carried out in stages. The company has already commissioned an oxygen station. It will provide oxygen production, which is necessary to reduce the carbon content in steel and improve product quality.
The XVII International Economic Forum "Russia — the Islamic World: Kazan Forum 2026" was held in Kazan from May 12 to 17. The event traditionally serves as a platform for dialogue between the Russian Federation and the countries of the Islamic world in order to develop business ties, investments and joint projects.
