Tyazhpromexport reconstructs historic hospital in Myanmar
Tyazhpromexport of Rostec State Corporation will reconstruct and equip the first clinical hospital in Taungji, Republic of the Union of Myanmar with modern equipment. The negotiations on the implementation of the project were attended by the Minister of Shan State Aung Aung, the Minister of Health of the country, Professor Thet Haing Win, and a representative of Tyazhpromexport.
The first clinical hospital in Taungji has a special historical significance for the Republic of Myanmar. The institution was built in the middle of the 20th century according to the project of the Giprosdrav Institute with the support of the USSR and for many years served as a medical care center for the entire Shan State. It was here that Soviet doctors and translators worked, laying a solid foundation for many years of humanitarian cooperation between the countries. Today, continuing its work, the hospital is in urgent need of comprehensive modernization to meet modern standards.
During the negotiations, Tyazhpromexport presented the concept of the project implementation with the involvement of the StroyMedInvest subsidiary. The key element of the proposal was the use of a cloud-based digital platform of its own design, which allows automating design, reducing the number of errors, ensuring strict control over equipment compliance with approved documentation and reducing work completion times by 15-20%.
"We consider the reconstruction project of the first clinical hospital in Taungji as a strategic initiative aimed not only at modernizing a key social facility, but also at demonstrating the potential of Russian engineering, digital and technological solutions in the healthcare sector. As part of the project, the facility will be equipped with high-tech Russian medical equipment, including those manufactured by Rostec State Corporation. The successful implementation of the initiative will become an important case for the further development of cooperation in the field of medical infrastructure in the Asian region," said Sergey Egorov, CEO of Tyazhpromexport.
The Myanmar authorities expressed interest in cooperation and stressed that the reconstruction of the hospital in Taungji would be an important step in strengthening bilateral relations and increasing access to quality medical care for the population of the republic. The parties agreed to continue working on the details of the technical and financial proposals in the coming months.
The signing of the final documents on the implementation of the Taungji hospital reconstruction project is planned to coincide with the VI meeting of the Russian-Myanmar intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, which is scheduled for early 2026. This will highlight the strategic nature of the partnership between the two countries and give an additional impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of healthcare and social infrastructure.
